Hi, I’m Nicola Ray, Registered Manager at Oaklands Rest Home.

I’m incredibly proud to lead our dedicated team at Oaklands, a family-run care home where relationships, kindness, and quality care sit at the heart of everything we do. I’ve worked in elderly and dementia care for many years, and I remain passionate about creating an environment where residents feel safe, valued, respected, and truly at home.

For me, great care is about people. It’s about taking the time to understand each resident as an individual — their story, their routines, their preferences, and the little things that bring them comfort and happiness. I believe the small moments matter just as much as the big ones.

One of the things I value most about Oaklands is the culture we’ve built together as a team. We work hard to create a positive, supportive environment not only for our residents and families, but also for the people who work here. I’m passionate about developing and supporting team members who share our core values of being caring, respectful, collaborative, honest, and trusted.

I believe leadership should be visible, approachable, and supportive. Whether I’m helping a family navigate an emotional transition, mentoring a colleague, or simply spending time with residents around the home, I try to lead with empathy, positivity, and professionalism.

At Oaklands, we’re more than just a care home — we’re a family. I feel privileged every day to work alongside such compassionate people and to play a part in creating a home where residents can truly thrive.
